Responsibilities: Flash and Director development of Screensaver Constructor app
Noteworthy facts: Winner of Macromedia's Site of the Day in June 2002. The first time an app like this has ever existed (that I know of). Users could go through a step-by-step process and create a customizable screensaver that would be zipped up in real time and pushed to the user. First they had to download a player app which consisted of an Screentime placeholder screensaver with a configuration text file and a Director-based app. The app allowed users to install new screensavers and select which screensaver was currently active. This type of system-level access was tricky and compounded by the fact that the same app was developed across Windows, Mac OS 9, and OS X. Once the user created their screensaver, a list of the files needed was sent to a PHP script which created a real-time ZIP archive which the user could drag and drop on the Director app to install.
